2005 was a very hectic year, when COWE commenced its drive to get new members, sponsors, partners, counsellers and a host of well wishers through counseling, EDPs, lobbying, networking, seminars, exhibitions and conferences

Our members participated in the Conference organized by National Commission of Women in Delhi on 16-17th March, 2005. Ms Vanita Datla presented a paper on “Marketing Dilemmas”. Others who attended the conference were Ms Shylaja Reddy, Ms Sandhya Reddy, Ms Soudamini & Ms Suman Kumar

Also we participated in the BYST convention on 8th April, 2005 held at Satya Sai Nigamagamam in Hyderabad, where Ms Suman Kumar presented a paper on “Role Of Non-Government Organisations in the Rural Sector” & Ms Uma Ghurkha presented a paper on “Fostering entrepreneurship among rural youth of A.P.”

Ms Soudamini, Ms Sandhya Reddy and Ms Suman also attended the CII New Members Meet held at Hotel Taj Krishna on 29th September, 2005.

World Bank and NCEAR report in Rural finance and Microfinance was disseminated at a 2 hour meeting on 15th September, 2005 at Hotel Taj Krishna. Ms Suman Kumar was invited to this programme.

Ms Sandhya Reddy and Ms Soudamini participated at the Luncheon meeting with HE Prime Minister of Mauritius at Hyder Mahal, Hotel Grand Kakatiya, Hyderabad on 26th October, 2005. The invitation was from Ms Ratna Prabha, IAS Secretary to A.P. Govt, IT&C dept, A.P.Secretariat, Hyderabad

COWE is actively involved with women in weaving sector in Dharmavaram, microcredit in Jadcherla, agriculture in Nizamabad and horticulture in Nalgonda districts. We are also pursuing PMRY and DRDA programmes in the districts .COWE adopted Dharmavaram weavers and funded five of them.

SBH donated 30 computers to COWE to facilitate incubators.

Collaboration with ZDH of Germany, to promote entrepreneurship and for converting business to good economy.“ Organizational Structure & Fund Raising” workshop organized by ZDH, included COWE’s participation. “How to Export to EU”, a two day workshop organized by COWE in collaboration with ZDH on 28th and 29th of September. First Networking Conference of the ZDH partners was held at Pragati Resorts, Hyderabad

COWE’s incubator facilities have been utilized by three of our members.

GITEX 2006 – a landmark seminar with CII and NASSCOM. Hon.Minister of Sugar, Trade and Major Industries, Ms.Geeta Reddy, Hon.Minister of IT, Ms.Sabita Reddy, Ms.Ratna Prabha, Secretary IT were the Chief Invitees and Guests.

The first Annual General body Meeting(AGM) was held on 26th Sept, 2006 at FAPCCI, Hyderabad

Balance sheet and profit & loss account was circulated well in advance to all the members and it has been approved in the AGM. It was proposed by Malati and seconded by Swarna Bala.In Accordance with the articles and also subsequent guidelines, COWE has the following structure: Advisory board, Managing committee and Executive Committee. Managing Committee consists of Ex-Presidents and current office bearers.

GITEX IndiaSoft 2007(in collaboration with Dubai World Trade Center and IndiaSoft) is a premier exhibition focused on Information and Communication Technology, that brings large participation from international and domestic companies and users, both companies and individuals. GITEX is to be conducted during 9th to 11th January 2007 at HITEX center, NAC grounds, Hyderabad and is estimated to have a participation of more than 300 exhibitors and 3,00,000 visitors. GITEX IndiaSoft 2007 is to be inaugurated by Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Hon'ble Minister, Communications & IT, Govt. of India on 8th Jan 2007.

On the occasion of this prestigious event, Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) has conducted a seminar under the aegis of IT&C department, in parallel to sessions being conducted by NASSCOM, HYSEA, & CII. COWE is a non-profit business organization working towards promoting participation and development of women in various social and economic sectors through entrepreneurial development training and exposing them to various business and developmental opportunities aiming to make a perceptible difference in the cause of women and to lay a path for their economic and social independence through development of entrepreneurship facilities for them, especially in the sector of ICT.

Annual day Celebrations this year was held at Gitex 2007, NAC Auditorium, HITEX. This year, we had a ‘Corporate Ramp Show on Working Women’s Wear”, choreographed by designer Imran Khan. Business attires displayed on the ramp by models drew the attention of the crowd especially our young members. Sarees, salwar kameezes and western wear were all displayed. Music and dance between the three ramp walks was reverberating into the spirits of the audience. While going with the fashion times but still maintaining a decent working attire was the main focus of the “Corporate Ramp Show on Working Women’s Wear”.

A four member delegation from COWE joined the first all women entrepreneurs delegation organized by the ZDH/SEQUA Partnership Programme( an Indo-German Chambers of Commerce initiative) to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney – Australia from the 28th of March 2007 to 5th April 2007.

Ms.Suman Kumar, President COWE, Ms.Sandhya Reddy, Vice-President COWE, Ms.P.Soudhamini, Secretary COWE and Ms.A.Shylaja Reddy, Founder President COWE represented COWE during this visit. To study and explore business opportunities as well as to enhance trade relations between Industry Chambers and associations in both the countries was the primordial purpose for the visit. Our partners ZDH/SEQUA Partnership Programme has facilitated and has been supportive to COWE in many ways than one.

MOU between the four ZDH partners was signed at Bangalore, the other member partners being GCCI, AWAKE, FKCCI besides COWE.

Bi-Monthly all COWE members meet on 12th May 2007, was held at Surana Auditorium FAPCCI. The Program included: Welcome by the President A talk on current affairs by an invitee guest Presentation by Business delegation to Australia Discussion on forthcoming events of COWE Vote of thanks Games – Tambola High tea.

COWE participated in a delegation to Germany through its representative Ms.Sandhya Reddy during the first week of July 2007.

Team Building workshop for COWE members was organized at ALANKRITA RESORTS on 14th and 15th of July 2007. This programme was facilitated by Mr S. Radhakrishnan and sponsored by ZDH/Sequa partnership programme, represented by Mr Karthikeyan. 20 COWE members participated in this workshop.

An eight member delegation went to Srilanka to participate and study the trade fair being held there. Meetings with Chambers of Commerce, Indian High Commissioner, Export Development Board, Board of Investment etc has provided the needed inputs for the delegates. Two MOUs have been signed – one with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the other with the Galle Womens Chamber of Commerce.

Trade Carnival 2007 –

Inauguration of the Business Information Centre at the Trade Carnival2007 by Hon. Chief Minister on the 27th of Oct 2007.

MOU signed between GCCI and COWE on the behest of GCCI’s request to promote trade linkages and to support the members of both the organization on 27th Oct 2007.
